Challenge: Write the stories of six incredible young patients for the joint Nike-Doernbecher Freestyle program.
Solution: Interviews with the kids and their families, spoken word inspiration pieces, and editorial copy

Doernbecher Freestyle is a remarkable partnership between Nike, Inc. and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital at Oregon Health & Science University that gives young patients the chance to create limited-edition footwear and apparel. Millions of dollars have been raised over the years to help children facing serious illnesses.   

It was an honor to write the stories of the six amazing kids chosen to work with Nike designers in 2014. Those stories were the primary copy content for the annual Freestyle book, showcasing the kids and their designs. Copy excerpts were also included in the invites, brochures, marketing materials and inside the box tops of all the shoes sold. PDF upon request.
