Overview: As a full-time Nike employee I worked on high-profile creative projects including global events, corporate communications, a college marketing program, and producing Nike’s first corporate responsibility report. After launching my independent business, I continued to work with them as a freelance/consultant. Some of those projects are shown below showcasing my writing skills and ability to deliver creative solutions and lead cross-functional teams.

Manager Manifesto

Challenge: Write and design a book to highlight best practices for Nike managers

Solution: A book sent to over 6,000 managers, translated into 25 languages

  • Wrote all copy, including letter from the CEO

  • Led cross-divisional collaboration between Human Resources and Nike Design

  • Provided creative direction for freelance graphic designer

  • Years later was hired again to assist with rewriting/updating Nike’s iconic Maxims

Challenge: Coalesce input from over 25 people into short form content for the Global Brand Marketing operations internal planning app

Solution: A team building work session to enable an efficient, cost-effective editing process.

  • Led work session to align teams around language, tools, deliverables, owners, dates and gates

  • Rewrote and edited all copy for the app into consistent, short form content

 

Advanced Manufacturing Team Presentations

Challenge: Help a divisional leadership team improve their presentation skills and tools to foster collaboration and awareness across all levels and divisions of the company.

Solution: Led the development of a divisional visual center and provided team presentation training.

  • Provided creative direction to a freelance graphic designer in the creation of a divisional visual center and presentation template

  • Provided presentation training to divisional leadership team to encourage best practices for deck length & content (less is more!) as well as in-person delivery

 

Modernization Tour Virtual app creation

Challenge: Write an informational document for the Nike Executive Team (NET) to read in-flight on their way to visit a new facility overseas. 

Solution: A digital tool for broad organizational learning and collaboration.

  • Advised developing an internal app to foster cross-organizational collaboration and education, and to enable more efficient tours for a broader audience

  • Wrote the RFP and led the process to identify and select the best creative agency to build an internal training app

  • Provided creative direction and oversight of an external agency hired to build the app

  • Wrote copy and provide creative direction on visual language and video production for the app

 

Maxim Awards

Challenge: Write an inspirational V.O. script to generate excitement and anticipation as the opening segment of Nike’s Global Maxim Awards live show. Video/visual materials were then created to support this.

Solution: An inspirational V.O. piece that was praised by the CEO and others as being exceptional.
